Zenith Pediatric Dentist Las Vegas

Every parent wants the best for their child’s smile, but figuring out how dental insurance actually works can feel like reading a foreign language. Between understanding coverage limits, finding an in-network provider, and knowing which treatments your plan pays for, it is easy to feel overwhelmed before your child even sits in the dental chair. The good news is that most children in the United States have access to some form of dental coverage, and understanding your benefits can save your family both money and stress.

At All Star Kidz Pediatrics, we accept all major dental insurance plans, including Medicaid, and our team handles the details so you can focus on your child’s health. Our Centennial Hills office provides comprehensive pediatric dental services in Las Vegas designed to keep young smiles healthy from the very first tooth. Whether your child needs a routine cleaning or a more involved procedure, we work directly with your insurance provider to help maximize your benefits and minimize your out-of-pocket costs.

How Dental Insurance Covers Pediatric Care

Most dental plans divide children’s services into categories that determine how much of the cost your insurance will cover. Understanding these categories helps you plan ahead and avoid unexpected bills.

Preventive Services

Preventive care is the foundation of your child’s oral health, and nearly all dental plans cover these services at little to no cost to families. This typically includes routine checkups and cleanings, dental X-rays, and fluoride treatments. Most plans allow two preventive visits per year, and taking full advantage of these appointments helps catch small issues before they become bigger problems.

Basic and Major Services

Basic services such as fillings and simple extractions are generally covered at a percentage, often between 70 and 80 percent after your deductible is met. Major services, which can include crowns, pediatric sedation dentistry, and oral surgery, may be covered at a lower rate. Every plan is different, and our team reviews your specific benefits before treatment begins so you always know what to expect.

Types of Insurance Plans We Accept

Our practice works with a wide range of insurance providers to make pediatric dental care accessible to Las Vegas families. We are in-network with most major carriers, including Delta Dental, Cigna, MetLife, Aetna, Guardian, United Healthcare, Humana, and many more. We also proudly accept Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, which together provide dental coverage for millions of children across the country. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, children without insurance experience higher rates of oral health issues compared to those with coverage, which is why we work hard to keep our doors open to every family regardless of their plan.

PPO Plans

Preferred Provider Organization plans offer flexibility when choosing a dentist while still providing cost savings for in-network visits. As a PPO-friendly practice, we help families get the most out of their plan by filing claims on their behalf and working through any pre-authorization requirements for procedures.

Medicaid and CHIP

Nevada’s Medicaid program covers comprehensive dental care for children, including exams, cleanings, fluoride, sealants, fillings, extractions, and more. The Children’s Health Insurance Program provides similar benefits for families whose income is too high to qualify for Medicaid but who still need assistance. Our office welcomes children enrolled in both programs and treats every patient with the same level of personalized care.

Making the Most of Your Child's Benefits

Many dental plans operate on a calendar year, meaning your benefits reset every January. Unused benefits do not roll over, so it is important to schedule your child’s appointments throughout the year to take full advantage of coverage. Planning ahead can also help you spread out any needed treatments across benefit periods to reduce costs.

  • Annual maximums: most plans set a yearly limit on what they will pay, so understanding your maximum helps you prioritize treatments
  • Waiting periods: some plans require you to wait before certain services are covered, which is worth checking when you first enroll
  • Coordination of benefits: if your child is covered under two plans, our team can coordinate both to help cover a greater share of the cost
  • Pre-treatment estimates: we submit estimates to your insurance before major work so you know your responsibility upfront

Families who stay on top of their benefits often find that preventive care and early treatment are fully or mostly covered, keeping their children’s teeth healthy without straining the family budget.
