Your Visit

Welcome! We’re looking forward to meeting and getting to know you and your child at their first “Happy Visit!”.

Assessment

Nobody wants to force a child into a scary experience, which is why we first assess the child’s level of anxiety and willingness to experience different procedures. If your child is willing and able we start with Xrays, move on to a cleaning and follow up with an exam, and fluoride treatment.

Custom Care

If your child is very nervous, we’ll start with slow and no pressure introductions to this new environment by showing them the chair, starting a movie, laying them back if possible, and maybe doing a toothbrush cleaning. If your child is more comfortable close to you, we’ll encourage you to hold them on your lap, chest to chest, and lay them back into the doctor’s lap for a lap exam.

From there, the Doctor can take a quick peek to see if there is anything obvious to be concerned with and make a plan going forward. To make sure we accomplish a successful  first visit, we always end the appointment with an oral hygiene kit, and a small toy.

1st visit

A child should have their first visit between the ages of one and two-years. This visit should be fun and easy. It is meant to introduce the parent and child to the dentist, staff and the dental environment. We go with what the child is comfortable with doing. We try to build their knowledge and confidence in us and what we do. Each successive visit the child will become more and more familiar and at ease with going to the dentist. We want them to look forward to going to the dentist, that we are friends and have zero fear. We share proper diet and dental hygiene tips to help your kids have healthy teeth.

6-MONTH CHECK-UPS

Each six-months is a great interval to see us so that we can keep on top of things. A thorough cleaning is accomplished each time as well as an exam by Dr Lamb. Dental cleanings and exams are two of the most basic yet important preventive treatments we provide at our office in order to make sure everything is growing in correctly and staying healthy so your young one can have a great oral health for a lifetime.  Dental radiographs (x-rays) are taken periodically based on your child’s risk of cavities.   We use digital radiography, which is best for diagnosis and emits very little radiation. We have a large viewing screen for you to see the details of your child’s teeth.   An orthodontic evaluation is also accomplished. An accurate diagnosis is made and a conservative treatment plan is suggested. We make your dollars stretch by doing only the dental work that is necessary. We reinforce a good diet, brushing and flossing habits to maintain a happy and healthy mouth.
